Who we are
ADOPTR LTD is the controller of the personal information described here. We are registered in England and Wales under company number 16774516. Our registered office is 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. For privacy questions or to use a data protection right, email privacy@adoptr.uk. What we collect
- For a journey: the details the rescue gives us to carry and import the dog, including the family’s name, phone and delivery address, and the dog’s papers.
- When you call, message or email us: what you tell us, so we can answer.
- When you open a tracking link: the code in the link, so we can show the right journey.
- Basic server records (such as the time of a request and your IP address), kept for security and to keep the site running.
Why we use it
- Journeys: to perform the transport the rescue booked, and to meet our legal duties as importer of record (import notifications and records kept for the authorities).
- Messages: to answer you, our legitimate interest in helping the people we work for.
- Tracking: to show a family where their dog is, as part of the transport their rescue booked.
- Security records: our legitimate interest in protecting the site, the people using it and the animals.
Who receives it
Only those who need it to run the service: our partner transporter for a journey, the rescue involved, and the providers that host this website and our email. Where the law requires, authorities such as APHA. We never sell personal information.
Transfers outside the UK
A journey from Romania means sharing operational details between the UK and Romania. Where UK transfer rules apply, we use an adequacy regulation or appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.
How long we keep it
Journey and import records are kept for up to 6 years after the journey, for contracts, accounting, insurance and the authorities. Messages are kept for as long as we need them to help you. Security records are kept for a short period unless they are needed to investigate a problem.
Cookies
This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies, and does not track you across other sites. If that ever changes, we will ask first.
Your rights
You can ask for access to your information, or for it to be corrected, erased, restricted or moved, and you can object to how we use it. Email privacy@adoptr.uk; we normally reply within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk), though we would like the chance to help first.
